How Do I Measure the Success of My Content Marketing? The Importance of Content Performance Analysis

Schedule a time

Whatever amount of money you have, the bottom line is, you need to generate results for your investment. So how to measure the success of your content marketing? It’s very simple.

Content marketing is not just about getting somebody to the website, getting them to convert, and buying. It can actually be a tool that you could use to retain customers.

Whatever the goal might be, you want to see if it is generating the desired results that you had documented as your strategy. If the checkmark is not there, then it’s not working. And it’s usually due to one of three problems:

#1 – awareness problem, that is, not enough traffic coming to the website
#2 – consideration problem, that is, website visitors aren’t converting
#3 – decision problem, that is, the entire strategy is not working

Measuring the effectiveness at every single stage will help you identify exactly where the bottleneck is. I call those areas “leaks” in the pipeline. And every particular problem is going to have a different solution.

A lot of companies spend thousands of dollars on content. They are buying all kinds of stuff and hiring dozens of bloggers, but when something is not working, more investing won’t fix it.

If your content isn’t driving results for you, then it’s not a matter of spending more money. It’s a matter of optimizing where you are spending it and what is actually getting done.

You need to find a way to keep people inside your company’s pipeline; otherwise, you’re losing them. So figure out if your efforts are driving the results you’re looking for. If not, start figuring out how you can fix this.

In this video, we will learn how to understand the performance of each marketing channel as well as the performance of our overall marketing funnel using digital marketing KPIs.

We will build simple marketing dashboards that can be used in real life, as well as look at some case studies and talk about common pitfalls.

I’ve seen many times battles within companies to cut marketing spend from one channel to add to another, only to have these reallocations backfire and the performance ends up being worse than before. Why?

Because digital marketing performance is hard to understand if you aren’t using the right KPIs, focusing on overall blended CAC, and thinking about the overall marketing funnel.

It is very easy to oversimplify marketing performance and make poor decisions about what is working and what is not.

We will cover all of this using real-life examples and discussions.
